Gratitude Compass: a daily appreciation journal

Gratitude Compass is a daily appreciation journal I built as a web app (PWA): three entries a day, an archive and a streak of days. Every entry stays on the user's own device, with no account and no password. You can try it at mitzpan-hahokarot.netlify.app.

The idea

I built Gratitude Compass to practise a simple habit: write down at least three appreciations a day, for things you actually did. You can expand an entry with the value it expresses and its context.

A daily habit that is easy to come back to

The first screen is today: one question, one field, and one appreciation at a time, in the morning, at noon and in the evening. A streak counter counts how many days in a row you wrote, and milestones at 7, 30 and 100 days give you a reason to come back tomorrow. Missed a day? You can fill it in, and the streak heals.

Privacy: your entries stay on the device

A personal journal should stay personal. So Gratitude Compass has no account and no password: entries are saved in the browser's storage on the device itself, and their content never leaves it. To keep them safe you can export a backup and import it back, and an import never overwrites what is already saved.

Archive and journey

Every entry is kept in the archive, filtered by date or month. The Journey screen shows your streak and your best streak, how many full days you had, a breakdown by context and the values that keep coming back.

What was built

A progressive web app (PWA), fully in Hebrew, right to left, designed for the phone first. An install bar appears only when installing is possible, and on an iPhone it shows how to install by hand. When there is a new version, the user chooses when to update. Dark mode follows the device, with a button to switch.

A daily tool for your business, such as a journal, a tracker or a tool for your clients, is built as a web app and starts with a spec. What I build.

Questions

Where are the entries saved?

Only on your device, in the browser's storage. Their content is never sent to a server.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account and no password. To move to another device, export a backup and import it there.

Can you build an app like this for my business?

Yes. A tool like this is built as a web app, and the price depends on what it needs to do: accounts, a server or an admin panel. The packages and prices are on the home page.

Need something similar?
